    Hello Friend,

I'm Kristen. I'm a certified Meditation & Mindfulness teacher through the Mclean Meditation Institute.

How did I come to meditation?

Is it fair to say I had become so unfocused that I can’t quite remember how it all began? There’s no dramatic story that led me to adopt a consistent meditation practice. I've been pretty fortunate in life. I go through highs and lows like many humans do.  But a period of acute, unmanaged stress.

    • Grief.

    • A global pandemic.

    • The slow erosion of professional confidence.

    • And reaching that symbolic half-century mark of life (not that reaching this milestone is a bad thing, but it does make you think....ALOT! )

It all added up and nudged me into something of an existential crisis.

As a result, my brain didn’t feel like its usual Self. I was more short-tempered than usual (which, for me, is saying something!), and I struggled to focus—whether it was on work, reading a book, or just being present.

And that constant loop of checking my phone? Yeah, I fell into that too. It’s sneakily powerful. Our brains get rewired to crave those tiny dopamine hits from notifications, even when we know they’re mostly just distractions.

    How meditation helped me...

I adopted that a daily meditation practice that helps to keep my natural, lifelong inclination for rumination in better check and helps manage the distractions that come with today’s modern digital life and work. It has allowed me to create space in my mind.

How exactly did I get there? These days, my mind is much clearer—though still a little fuzzy about that. Looking back, I think something shifted during a yoga class. That spark of curiosity led me to learn more about meditation… which took me to the local bookstore… where I, of course, bought way too many books on the subject.

From there, I found myself posted up at the neighborhood coffee shop, drinking too much coffee and diving into all those books. Eventually, I started a regular meditation practice… and before I knew it, I’d tumbled down the rabbit hole and found myself on the path to becoming a meditation teacher.

    What I noticed...

Meditation has a long list of benefits, but these are 3 that have been most noticeable for me:

    1. Space Between Stimulus and Response
Do I still have a "hot Irish temper"? I’d say it’s more of a warm Irish temper now.
And yes, I still have a knack for a sarcastic comment—but the edge is softened, just slightly.
Meditation didn’t erase my personality; it simply gave me a beat—a little space—between what I feel and how I respond.

    2. Improved Sleep + Clearer Mornings
I sleep better. I wake up with a clearer mind.
Gone are the days of waking up already full of anxious thoughts, and unnecessary worry.
Now, mornings feel spacious—like there's air around my thoughts.

    3. Improved Focus & Communication
At one point, even basic communication felt hard. Putting thoughts into words—whether in writing or speech—was a challenge, all tangled up in the stress I hadn’t been managing.
Meditation hasn’t solved everything, but it’s quieted the mental chatter enough that I can hear myself think again. And that’s made all the difference.

    How I can help you/ your organization/team....

I draw from my own experience to guide students as they begin to realize these same benefits—offering a space for growth, self-discovery, and greater well-being.

My only regret? That I didn’t start a regular meditation practice sooner.

But that was then, and this is now—and I’d be honored to support you on your journey.

I’m certified in the Simple, Easy, Every Day Meditation Method (SEED Meditation® Method), a mindfulness-based practice that I’m pleased to share with individuals and groups, whether in the classroom, the workplace, or one-on-one.

I’m dedicated to helping people thrive—both personally and professionally—and to supporting organizations in creating more focused, resilient, and effective teams.

I look forward to working with you.

    My background...

A curious learner with a deep appreciation for both quiet reflection and active exploration, I’ve long been fascinated by the ways people learn and the powerful connection between play, movement, and wellbeing. That passion led me to earn an M.Ed. in Education from Boston College and an M.S. in Sport and Recreation Management from the University of Connecticut.

Professionally, I’ve had the opportunity to explore a wide range of roles—spanning membership organizations, higher education administration, K–12 classroom teaching, and sport, recreation, and wellness programs. Across each experience, I’ve been driven by a desire to create environments that support growth, connection, and whole-person development.

Outside of work, I find joy and balance through movement and play. I’m an avid skier and enjoy a variety of active pursuits—including biking, golf, and rafting—as well as the occasional knitting project when it’s time to slow down and recharge.
